IN DEPTH

The attractive layout that gives the appearance of a layered masonry effect is achieved with Dynamic Cladding through an irregular sequence of slate rows with varying heights. Inconsistent vertical butt joints allow this wall cladding to avoid the uniformity of a grid-like look. This inconsistency in the joints creates a more natural and random look, as you would find in a masonry wall pieced together stone by stone. The irregularity of course heights and butt joints create a vivid picture of natural beauty. The diversity of each individual stone and varying course height adds wonderful texture and different surfaces for light to reflect. This play on light and reflectivity changes uniquely depending on time of day and weather conditions.

Dynamic Cladding has been specially developed and designed for modern architecture with all of the creative possibilities. Although it is not brick and mortar layered masonry, these thin slates present the appearance of a layered masonry wall. The unique natural power and originality of slate gives buildings and houses the charm of something special and a sense of individuality.

INSTALLATION & APPLICATION

Laying Technique:

Dynamic Cladding is executed with rectangular trimmed edge slates of different sizes. The heights of the slates vary row to row and within these, the widths of the slates vary as well.

Mounting:

Slates are fastened at the top of each slate or height of each row, which is then overlapped by each progressive course working the way up the wall. Slates are fastened at the top of each slate or height of each row, which is then overlapped by each progressive course working the way up the wall. This is accomplished with nailing into wooden backing. Each slate fastened with minimum three nails.
