LA BANA PREMIUM SLATE
UNFADING
La Bana Premium Slate is an unfading clear black slate and is an S-1 rated slate per ASTM standards. Categorized as unfading or non-weathering means this slate will hold its color and tone for the slate’s lifespan which is generally 75-100+ years. This is a Spanish quarried slate from the highest quality tested deposits in the area. We generally produce La Bana Black Slate at standard thickness of 1/4-3/8” thick however it can be produced thicker. This slate has a light texture to it adding a brilliant look and character and depth to the roof.
FLUID GREEN & PURPLE SLATE
UNFADING
Fluid Green & Purple Slate is an unfading or non-weathering slate meaning the roof will hold its beautiful hues of Green and Purple for the lifespan of the slate 75-100+ years. This is an S-1 rated slate per ASTM standards. Quarried in Vermont, this slate combines the wonderful natural shades of green and purple together on each piece of slate, in a fluid like combination. Typically a slate will either be primarily green or primarily purple from piece to piece. This slate is also referred to as Mottled Green & Purple Slate.
GREEN SLATE
UNFADING
Green Slate is an unfading or non-weathering slate that will hold its color throughout the life of the roof. This slate is a S-1 rated slate per ASTM standards, historic lifespan 75-100+ years. This Vermont quarried slate has beautiful tones of light bluish/green with natural shade variation from grayer green to a more pronounced green. Unfading Green Slate is one of the most common and well-known Vermont quarried slates.
PURPLE SLATE
Purple Slate is an S-1 rated slate per ASTM standards. Purple Slate is not classified as an unfading slate because over time it can develop a brownish tinge, however this change takes a long time to occur. Like the other slates, this Vermont quarried slate historically has a lifespan of 75-100+ years. Purple Slate normally contains green markings/spots as a natural material. Depending on how the quarry is producing, sometimes the green markings can be avoided but this is not typically the case.
RED SLATE
UNFADING
Red Slate is an unfading non-weathering slate and will hold its color for the lifetime of the slate. Unfading Red Slate is known to have a lifespan of 75-100+ years and is one of the hardest S-1 rated slates per ASTM standards. The deposits for this slate are limited making it one of the rarest slates. The vibrant color of red slate is often used for accents or accent bands on slate roofs. Red Slate has natural color variation sometimes from a more wine red tone to a brighter more brick red tone.
SEMI-WEATHERING GREY GREEN SLATE
SEMI-WEATHERING
This Semi-weathering Grey Green Slate is a weathering slate. Classified as Semi-weathering S-1 rated slate per ASTM standards. Semi-weathering means that some pieces of slate will take on brown and buff tones, this is random and could be anywhere from 25%-80% of slates that weather. Other slates hold their green and grey tones making for an amazing variation of natural colors. Normally the weathering is visible at 2-3-year mark roughly, and then will continue to change naturally over time.
